A grand cultural programme is going to be organized at the Bhanja Bhawan Auditorium at 6.30 PM on 17th May 2026 by Bhanja Cultural Trust, Rourkela and SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to mark the Birth Anniversary of the epoch-defining literary titan, Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja.
Mr. Tarun Misra, Executive Director (Human Resources) of RSP will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Krushna Keshab Sarangi, an acclaimed scholar of Bhanja Literature will be the key note speaker and deliver an erudite speech on the literary legacy of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja. Another highlight of the evening will be presentation of songs penned by Kabi Samrat by eminent Odishi singers. A beautiful Odishi dance recital based on his poetry will also be performed by the artists of Bhanja Kala Kendra.
Winners of various competitions organized earlier to mark the occasion will be awarded on this occasion.ย Notably around 200 students had already participated in the painting, essay, elocution, song and recitation competitions organized last week, while the Odishi dance competition will be organized on 17th morning.
