NEW DELHI. The Ashok Hotel and the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) marked a historic double anniversary recently , celebrating 70 and 60 years of excellence, respectively. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated a suite of high-impact initiatives at The Ashok, New Delhi, aligning the organization’s “re-imagination strategy” with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Highlights included the release of a commemorative “My Stamp” by the Department of Posts, an illustrated career guide in partnership with Amar Chitra Katha, and a heritage recipe book documenting state banquets at Hyderabad House. The event underscored ITDC’s evolution into a technology-driven hospitality leader, blending its rich diplomatic legacy with modern digital tools like QR-coded memorabilia and metaverse-ready branding.
In a move to strengthen infrastructure and governance, the celebration saw the launch of “Airawat Outdoors” for MICE tourism and the unveiling of modernized procurement and Sound & Light show manuals. The Ashok Institute of Hospitality was officially repositioned as IHM Ashok to align with the national framework, while new gift vouchers and refurbished facilities at Hotel Samrat were introduced to enhance revenue streams. Additionally, a partnership with NITI Aayog teased the “Chalo India with Eric Ji” campaign to promote Mizoram’s tourism.
