Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), participated in the 12th SBI Banking & Economics Conclave in Mumbai, themed “Navigating Climate Challenges through Sustainable Opportunities.” During the panel discussion, he highlighted IREDA’s crucial role in propelling India’s clean energy transition and reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating green investments. Noting that India has already achieved over 247 GW of renewable capacity—a threefold rise since 2014—Shri Das emphasized the nation’s steady progress toward the 500 GW non-fossil target by 2030, which will drive green jobs, innovation, and domestic manufacturing. He underlined renewable energy’s central role in decarbonization, spanning clean power, green hydrogen, energy storage, and e-mobility. Since 1987, IREDA has extended over Rs 1.7 lakh crore in financing support for emerging green technologies, while also advancing policy measures such as a national green taxonomy and concessional provisions to strengthen green financing frameworks in India.
