Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary and Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal, led the Indian delegation at the 106th IOC Meeting of the World Mining Congress held at JIEXPO, Jakarta. As Chairperson of the Executive Committee of INC-WMC, she is actively involved in promoting sustainable mining technologies globally.
During the meeting, Ms. Brar briefed delegates on India’s mining sector, emphasizing business opportunities in coal and non-coal segments, prospects for international collaboration on rare and critical minerals, and potential partnerships with India.
In a moment of national pride, she was elected Vice-Chairperson of the World Mining Congress—marking a historic first for India and the first time a woman has held this esteemed position.
