NEW DELHI. In a strategic move to promote green energy and sustainable mobility, the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Shell India to launch a comprehensive Green Skills and Electric Vehicles (EV) training initiative. Officially launched on June 12, 2025, the program will be executed through Edunet Foundation across select ITIs and NSTIs in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. This initiative aims to equip youth with industry-relevant skills through a tiered training model that includes advanced, intermediate, and foundational levels, covering critical topics such as EV systems, battery tech, diagnostics, and safety standards.
The program emphasizes a holistic approach to skill development by incorporating specialized training for instructors, state-of-the-art EV labs, and co-branded certifications from Shell and DGT to enhance employability. Participants will also benefit from structured placement support, including job readiness training and industry linkages, fostering a capable workforce to meet the rising demand for green energy and electric mobility professionals. This initiative aligns with India’s broader vision to position itself as a global hub for green technologies, supported by schemes like FAME and progressive state policies in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of MSDE and Minister of State for Education, emphasized the government’s focus on integrating skill development with sustainability goals. Smt. Trishaljit Sethi, Director General of DGT, also stressed the importance of modern technology in vocational training to prepare youth for future market needs. The partnership with Shell India marks a pivotal step towards building a future-ready workforce capable of supporting India’s transition to green mobility and energy solutions.
