NEW DELHI. India has created a new Guinness World Record after securing 2,50,946 valid pledges for responsible artificial intelligence use within 24 hours during the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Announcing the achievement at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said the country earned the Guinness World Records title for the “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours.” The record was officially verified by a Guinness World Records adjudicator during the summit held between February 16 and 17.
The nationwide AI Responsibility Pledge campaign was launched under the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with Intel India to encourage citizens to commit to ethical, inclusive and responsible AI practices. Participants engaged with scenario-based questions on data privacy, transparency, accountability and tackling misinformation, and received digital badges along with AI learning resources upon completion. Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inspiring outreach to students and educational institutions, Vaishnaw said the overwhelming participation, far surpassing the initial target of 5,000 pledges, reflects growing awareness and positions India as a leader in promoting responsible AI for social good.
