India to lead the world in this century: Dr Bhimaraya Metri IIM Nagpur Celebrates Republic Day

Nagpur, January 26: “The time has come for India to lead the world, and we must play our role with responsibility and confidence,” said Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, during the institute’s 77th Republic Day celebrations held on campus.

Dr Metri highlighted that India’s steady progress has been safeguarded by the Constitution, which has strengthened the country’s democratic values, unity and development. He noted that India is witnessing a crucial phase where the nation is increasingly providing leadership to the world, making this a significant time for the country’s growth story.

Dr Metri further encouraged students and young leaders to adopt Indian ethos and understand the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in building values-based leadership. He emphasised that organisations which blend tradition with technology create long-term success and lasting legacy.

Earlier, the Republic Day celebrations began with the flag hoisting ceremony and security march-past, followed by the National Anthem. A vibrant cultural programme was organised thereafter, showcasing the creativity and patriotic spirit of the campus community. Students presented self-written poetry on patriotic themes, while the Drama Club staged an engaging play on the inclusion of Hyderabad and Goa into India, highlighting the spirit of unity and nation-building.

Adding energy to the celebrations, the official Dance Club of IIM Nagpur presented powerful and vibrant performances, while the official Music Club presented a short concert featuring patriotic songs, creating a truly festive and inspiring atmosphere.

Cultural events on Republic Day at IIM Nagpur were organised by Abhyudaya – the Cultural Club of IIM Nagpur, reflecting the institute’s spirit of unity, patriotism and participation. Students, staff and faculty members attended the event in a large number.
