Applauding the initiative, Chief Secretary Shri Wahlang highlighted Meghalaya’s commitment to knowledge-led development, noting that the campus will be part of the city’s “Knowledge City” cluster, alongside prestigious institutions like IIM Shillong, NLU Meghalaya, and NIFT. He also emphasized the upcoming airport project in Shillong, which will significantly boost regional accessibility, making it easier for professionals, students, and faculty to connect with this emerging center of excellence.

”Funded through a ₹100.95-crore investment under the PM-DevINE (Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for the North-East), the Shillong campus will serve as a regional hub for advanced training, research, and policy advisory. Key focus areas will include Corporate Governance, ESG, CSR, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Competition Law, and Board Leadership. The new centre will build on IICA’s past engagements in the region, which have already trained over 300 professionals, and will further enhance representation from the Northeast in national initiatives like the Independent Director Databank.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee lauded the Meghalaya Government’s proactive support, describing it as a testament to cooperative federalism. She reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to empowering the Northeastern states as growth engines of New India. Academic and advisory programmes are set to commence within this financial year, with construction work beginning immediately. In the coming years, IICA aims to collaborate with state universities and institutions within the Knowledge City to offer customized programmes aligned with the region’s socio-economic aspirations, firmly establishing its role as a catalyst for ethical entrepreneurship and leadership in the Northeast.
