IICA Signs Strategic MoU with Association of ARCs to Boost Insolvency & Restructuring Expertise

IICA Association of ARCs MoU on insolvency and restructuring

NEW DELHI. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has signed a strategic 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) in India. The MoU was signed in the presence of DG & CEO Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, by Col. Amandeep Singh Puri (CAO, IICA) and Shri Hari Hara Mishra (CEO, Association of ARCs). The agreement aims to significantly strengthen the practical industry linkages, faculty pool, and research capabilities of IICA’s flagship Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) run by its Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy.

Aligning with the RBI’s October 2022 framework—which permitted eligible ARCs to act as Resolution Applicants under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC)—the collaboration focuses on three key pillars: industry-oriented curriculum design, joint research with structured data-sharing on distressed assets, and practical placement and internship opportunities for PGIP participants. Additionally, both organizations plan to host an annual joint conference, with discussions underway for a major landmark event in February 2027 commemorating IBC@10 and SARFAESI@25.

Emphasizing the impact of this collaboration on India’s corporate turnaround ecosystem, Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, DG & CEO of IICA, stated:

“The regulatory framework permitting ARCs to act as Resolution Applicants under the IBC has opened new horizons for corporate turnaround in India. This collaboration bridges theoretical learning with operational practice, equipping future Insolvency Professionals to handle complex corporate restructuring efficiently.”
