In a significant stride towards expanding India’s leadership in sustainable agricultural solutions, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) is establishing its first international nano fertiliser manufacturing plant in Curitiba, Brazil. In partnership with Brazilian firm NANOFERT, this joint venture aims to meet the rising global demand for eco-friendly and efficient crop nutrition products. With an annual capacity of 4.5 million litres, the plant will focus on crops like corn, soybean, and sugarcane, which are major staples in South America. Field trials in Brazil have shown promising results, including a 10% increase in yield for corn and soybean, along with a 20% reduction in conventional fertiliser usage, highlighting the potential of nano fertilisers to revolutionize sustainable farming practices.
This milestone marks IFFCO’s entry into international production of nano fertilisers—a groundbreaking development that enhances crop productivity while reducing environmental impact. Building on the success of nano urea and nano DAP in India, which have already been exported to over 40 countries, the Brazil plant is expected to strengthen India’s position as a global leader in innovative agri-inputs. The initiative also aims to improve local crop yields, cut export costs, and foster stronger Indo-Brazil agricultural cooperation, with future plans to introduce nano zinc and copper variants to further diversify the product portfolio.
