I have a Dream were the Golden Words of the King,
Who lived in the hearts of millions who looked upon him,
A saviors of the humanity to attain equality of man,
No discrimination on race or color of skin,
All are children of God said he.
Long live Martin Luther King Jr,
For giving this day to millions of Americans,
And showing the way for equality and justice for people of the world.
But I have a dream today,
For my people here in India,
On the eve of the 72nd Republic Day,
In the year described as Amrit Mahotsava of our Azadi from foreign rule.
I have a dream this day,
that one day,
There would be no fast drivibg in slow lanes on roads of India,
A full stop to killing, one every four minutes on roads due to rash driving !
No discharge of untreated sewage and industrial affluent in rivers and water bodies,
No food adulteration in a country that regards food as the giver of life.
No emotional fooling by politicians or the self appointed saviours of humanity,
No religious overtones, nor communal hated,
No deep economic disparity,
That currently creates rich getting rich and poor becoming more poorer.
I have a dream that one day,
My countrymen shall live in a country of their Vedic Seers and Sages,
Who proclaimed Satyamev Jayate, where the Truth Triumphs and not the untruth.
Where the cool breese of malyagriha connects man with divine,
Where the mighty Himalayas invite man to rise to the altars of Divine,
Invoke the spirit of giving and living a life of dignity.
Where the divinity descends on earth,
To lead one to achieve the destined goal of ‘Oneness with Divine’
Celebrate ‘Oneness of Divinity’ and ‘Diversity of Oneness’.
Where there are equal opportunities to manifest the potential of man,
Where no one is without work or meaningful engagement in service of divine,
Where freedom and accountability guarantee liberty and equality.
Where air is refreshing and water us pure,
The rivers of nectar are rejuvenated once again,
Where Ahimsa and Aparigriha assure lasting sustainability.
Where peace and harmony are practiced as principles of a civilized society,
Where compassion and Aatmiyata in abundance make living a bliss of divinity,
Where inguinity and integrity of man makes Buddha smile.
Where talent flourish and creativity and Innovativeness make Almighty proud of man.
Where perfection is goal of work life,
Ethics and Professional Morals define its people,
Where integrity matters.
Where head is head high and mind is free from vices and fear of death,
That looms large otherwise in a insane society,
Where indifference of people and even silence of the enlightened makes evil to over power goodness,
To make a country of billion people dance on the tunes of religious unmad or mindlessly delve in the glorious past,
Shunning their eyes from the problems and challenges that daily knock our doors.
From shouldering the responsibility to create a better tomorrow for billion plus.
Oh my Lord, Let my country awake to achieve this dream, Of making India once again, a heaven on earth,
The wonder that it was, in the ancient past,
Oh my Lord, give me this day,
To let my country awake to make this dream come true,
As we celebrate the Republic Day this year,
The year of Amrit Mahotsava of our Azadi.
A poem by Kulpati Prof PB Sharma on the eve of the 72nd Republic Day of India, the Bharat.
