HPCL’s LNG Regasification Terminal: HPCL has commissioned a cutting-edge terminal at Chhara, Gujarat, aiming to enhance energy security, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to the government’s goal of increasing natural gas to 15% of India’s energy mix by 2030.
Key features of the terminal:
- Initial capacity: 5 MMTPA (expandable to 10 MMTPA)
- Gross storage capacity: 400,000 cubic meters
- Operating on a tolling model, allowing third-party users to access its services
- HPCL’s Natural Gas Expansion: Beyond the terminal’s operation, HPCL is actively expanding its role in the natural gas value chain by:
- Developing City Gas Distribution networks across 25 Geographical Areas
- Establishing LNG retailing facilities in multiple states
- Enhancing access to cleaner fuels and diversifying India’s energy sources.
