The New and Renewable Energy Ministry has released guidelines for pilot projects under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, focusing on using green hydrogen in the transport sector. With decreasing renewable energy and electrolyzer costs, green hydrogen vehicles are anticipated to be cost-competitive in the coming years. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, will execute these pilot projects, supporting technology development for green hydrogen use in vehicles and infrastructure like hydrogen refueling stations.
The scheme will support development of technologies for use of Green Hydrogen as a fuel in Buses, Trucks and four-wheelers. The other thrust area for the scheme is to support development of infrastructure such as hydrogen refuelling stations.
