Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with joy and fervour in various educational institutions as well as other organisations of the steel city on 27th August, 2025. Mr. Alok Verma, DIC, Rourkela Steel Plant visited the Puja celebrations and offered pushpanjali to Lord Vinayak at Deepika Ispat Siksha Sadan, Sector-18. He was accompanied by Mrs Namrata Verma, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Mr. S Palchowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. Jayant Acharya, CMO In-Charge, (M&HS), Mr. Rajesh Dasgupta, CGM (F&A), Mrs. Pravati Misra, Mrs. Pratijna Palai, Mrs. Rita Rani, Mrs. Bandana Singh, Mrs. Nabanita Palchowdhury all Vice Presidents of DMS and other senior officers of the plant.
Later the Senior Officers offered Puja at Ispat Vidya Mandir, Sector- 19, Ispat English Medium School, Sector – 20 and Ispat English Medium School, Sector-22. A similar puja was also offered at Beginner’s Academy, Sector – 5 by the President, Vice Presidents and Governing Body members of Deepika Mahila Sanghati.
Ganesh Puja was also celebrated with zeal and zest in the different educational institutes of the Steel city, in which a large number of students, teachers and parents participated enthusiastically.
It is noteworthy that Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the Birthday of Lord Ganesh on the fourth day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrava month of Hindu calendar. It is among the most celebrated of the festivals in India. The making of the idols by the traditional craftsmen start months before the festival. The idols are being placed on the ornately decorated altar in homes as well as in the majestic splendour of the outdoor pendals, with much pomp and ceremonies.
