Fire Fighting and Rescue Demonstration held at Ispat General Hospital of SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant

A Fire Fighting and Rescue Demonstration was held at the O&G Ward of Ispat General Hospital of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 22nd May, 2025. Dr. Madhumita Sahoo, Deputy CMO, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Deputy CMO, Dr. A Minz, Deputy CMO all from M&HS, many other senior doctors, nurses, staff and a large number of patient and spectators from various wards were present on the occasion.

During the awareness programme the medical employees were informed about various fire fighting and rescue techniques as well as the use and application of different fire fighting equipments. A rescue scenario for 4 patients and 1 baby was created. Different teams namely Fires, Rescue and Combat teams demonstrated the evacuation and successfully completed the exercise after shifting the patients to safe areas. The demonstration was conducted by the team of Fire Services led by Mr. Vinay Mahajan, Assistant Manager (Fire Services) under the guidance of Mr. J.B.Pattnaik.

It is also noteworthy that such mock fire and safety drills are organised by Fire Service Department in different units of RSP from time to time to ensure high level of preparedness for tackling any eventuality. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Richa Surit, Senior Consultant & DSO (IGH).
