An extensive Human Chain spanning from the Sanskar Gate to the Main Gate and ED(W) Chowk marked the commencement of Road Safety Month observation at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant. The campaign held on 1st January 2025 was led by Mrs. Asha Kartha, CGM (Safety & Fire Service) and Mr. Abakasa Behera, GM (Safety), RSP.
Around 600 participants, including employees and contractual workers, energetically formed the human chain, holding placards that carried essential safety messages. These placards emphasized crucial aspects of road safety, such as avoiding overtaking, refraining from red light violations, limiting mobile phone use while driving, avoiding unsafe driving practices, and adhering to speed limits within the plant premises.
The timing of the event was thoughtfully chosen to coincide with the arrival of employees during the General Shift, maximizing its impact. The campaign started at 8:30 AM and concluded at 9:30 AM, ensuring that employees entering through both the Sanskar Gate and Main Gate could witness the display of unity and safety awareness.
The Departmental Safety Officers of different units of RSP and the Safety Officers of different contractor agencies were instrumental in organizing this event. Following the human chain, a coordination meeting was held at the Safety Engineering Department with contractor agency Safety Officers to further promote safety awareness among contract labor. Mr. B K Padhy, AGM (Safety) along with the Safety Engineering team of RSP coordinated the programme.
