Ex-HAL CMD RK Tyagi Proposes Mega PSU Consolidation to Position India in Global Top 50 Companies

NEW DELHI. In a bold strategic vision, Shri R.K. Tyagi, former Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Pawan Hans, and HAL, has suggested  a mega-consolidation of major Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to elevate India’s corporate presence globally.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Shri Tyagi suggested merging key PSUs such as HAL, BHEL, ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and REC Limited.

According to  Shri Tyagi , such a move could pave the way for a unified Indian entity to enter the ranks of the world’s top 50 largest companies.

Highlighting India’s status as the fourth-largest economy and an emerging global innovation hub, Shri Tyagi expressed concern that no Indian company currently features among the top 50 globally. He emphasized that strategic consolidation of India’s engineering, energy, and infrastructure giants could create a world-class enterprise with significant scale, efficiency, and global competitiveness.
