Empowering Air Travellers, Ensuring Their Rights

Empowering Air Travellers Ensuring Their Rights

March 15, World Consumer Rights Day, is a reminder of the importance of protecting consumers’ interests. As the Air Travellers Association (ATA), our mission is to safeguard the rights of air travellers, ensuring they receive fair treatment and respect from airlines and airports.

The Challenges Faced by Air Travellers

– *Exorbitant cancellation charges*: Unreasonable fees for cancelling or rescheduling flights, leaving passengers with significant financial losses.
– *Denied boarding*: Overbooking and denied boarding practices that strand passengers, causing inconvenience and distress.
– *Lost or damaged luggage*: careless handling of baggage, resulting in losses and frustration for travelers.
– *Poor in-flight services*: subpar food, inadequate seating, and insufficient amenities, making flights uncomfortable and unpleasant.
– *Lack of transparency*: insufficient information about flight schedules, delays, and cancellations, leaving passengers in the dark.
– *Exorbitant fares*: unjustifiably high ticket prices, especially during peak travel seasons and events like the Mahakumbh, where fares skyrocketed, leaving devotees and travelers with little choice.
– *Exploitative pricing during peak seasons*: Airlines taking advantage of high demand during festivals, holidays, and special events, charging passengers exorbitant fares that are not justified by the services provided.

ATA’s Commitment to Air Travellers
We advocate for:

– *Fair compensation*: Reasonable refunds and compensation for flight-related issues.
– *Transparent policies*: Clear and concise information about flight services, fees, and policies.
– *Improved in-flight services*: Better amenities, food, and overall travel experiences.
– *Accountable airlines*: Holding airlines responsible for their actions and ensuring they prioritize passenger welfare.
– *Regulatory oversight*: Strengthening regulatory frameworks to prevent airlines from exploiting passengers with exorbitant fares and fees.
