Dubai made history at the World Government Summit 2024 by signing agreements to launch the world’s inaugural air taxi service. Centered on Joby Aviation’s S4, an electric aircraft accommodating four passengers and a pilot, the project envisions a city-wide aerial taxi service and vertiport network. Boasting vertical take-off and landing, the S4’s eco-friendly features include a 161 km range and a top speed of 321 km/h, promising reduced noise, zero emissions, and enhanced passenger convenience. Set to commence in 2026, Dubai aims to redefine urban mobility with this innovative and sustainable transportation initiative.
The electric-powered aircraft can be swiftly recharged between flights, the initiative represents a bold step toward a more sustainable and accessible transportation future.
