DURGAPUR. Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his deputy Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma announced the merger of the Alloy Steels Plant with the Durgapur Steel Plant. During their maiden visit to Durgapur Kumaraswamy said this strategic move aims to resolve a long-standing land dispute that has stalled DSP’s modernization for four years. Industry experts note that integrating the two Steel Authority of India Limited units will secure the critical land required for DSP’s delayed eastward horizontal brownfield expansion, offering a viable solution to overcome ongoing operational losses and fuel future growth.
