The 3rd Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) Social Leadership Conclave witnessed a significant gathering of esteemed professionals and thought leaders, highlighting the crucial intersection of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in climate action. Dr. Srikanta K. Panigrahi, Director General of the Indian Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD), served as a Guest of Honour and distinguished panelist for the technical session titled “Role of CSR in Climate Action and Sustainability.” This session featured notable panelists, including Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Former Director General & CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, and Dr. U.K. Bhattacharya, Former Director of Sustainability at NTPC Limited. The session was moderated by Arnab Basu, President of BCC&I and Advisory Leader at PWC, showcasing a wealth of expertise on the importance of integrating CSR initiatives into business strategies.

The conclave also welcomed eminent guests such as Dr. Vikrant Pandey, IAS, Director cum Joint Secretary of the Zonal Council at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and Shri Jitendra Kumar, Chairperson of the Corporate Governance & CSR Committee at BCCI, who is also the Company Secretary and President of Legal & Corporate Affairs. The participation of these leaders underscores the ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable practices in business and governance, emphasizing the vital role of collaboration between public and private sectors in addressing climate challenges and promoting a sustainable future.
