NEW DELHI. Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member of NITI Aayog and Chairperson of the SEBI Social Stock Exchange Advisory Committee, recently presented a copy of his book, Power Within: The Leadership Legacy of Narendra Modi, to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The occasion brings his detailed research on public leadership back into focus, coinciding with milestones celebrating the Prime Minister’s journey in public service. The author, a former Member-HR of the Capacity Building Commission, notes that the leadership insights emerged through years of extensive reading, close observation, and qualitative inquiry.
The book captures a blend of Western and Indic perspectives on governance by examining fifty years of the Prime Minister’s public life. Rather than looking for preset traits, Dr. Balasubramaniam documents ten core attributes that define this leadership model. These range from deeply rooted inner qualities such as equanimity, humility, and compassion, to bold governing principles like fearlessness in policy-making and a pervasive sense of ” seva” (service) that drives key executive decisions.
