Dr. Alka Mittal is former CMD and Director(HR) of ONGC, India’s National Oil Company. She was also the Chairperson of ONGC Group of Companies viz. ONGC Videsh, MRPL, OPaL, OTPC, etc. Dr. Mittal has the distinction of being the first woman to head ONGC – one of India’s most valuable companies. She had also become the first ever woman Functional Director of ONGC in its history, when she assumed the charge of Director (HR) in 2018. She superannuated from the services of ONGC in August 2022 after an illustrious career spanning more than 37 years.
A dedicated mentor to youngsters, Dr Mittal has the distinction of training more than 12000 young Graduate Trainees of ONGC since 2001 on the subject of ‘Corporate Governance.’ She is committed to coaching young professionals.
Dr. Mittal has been placed in the Fortune Global Top Ten Women CEOs list in 2023 and is recipient of prestigious awards like Inspiring CEO of India Award, HRWorld Thought Leaders 2022 by Economic Times, Silver Stevie Award in the Woman of the Year category at the International Business Awards 2021, Powerful Women’s Trophy by Fortune India on 3rd March 2023 and many other recognitions.
