Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Monash University (acting through its Institute of Railway Technology-IRT), Melbourne (Australia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and jointly take-up metro rail research activities in the areas of advanced automation of rolling stock & track maintenance etc.
The MoU was signed at Metro Bhawan today by the authorised signatories of DMRC and IRT, Monash in the presence of senior officials from both the organisations.
Under the ambit of this MoU, exchange programs between Monash University and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Academy (DMRC Academy) may also be organised from time to time. DMRC Academy shall be the knowledge and training partner for all such activities.
DMRC shall identify studies related to the metro system to be taken up through IRT, Monash University under specific contractual agreements, to be finalised on a case-to-case basis. Furthermore, other avenues shall also be explored pertaining to technical and research cooperation and for the competency building of metro engineers.
This MoU marks a significant step forward in DMRC’s collaboration with one of the world’s leading railway technology institutes, enhancing DMRC’s capabilities in key operational and maintenance areas. This association will also create new opportunities for future ventures, facilitating the exchange of technology and expertise to improve safety and reliability of train operations, as well as enhancing the passenger’s travel experience.
