Bengaluru: DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Vikas Kumar, has been conferred with the prestigious IGBC Senior Fellowship by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in its 22nd Congress, being held at Bengaluru. This is in recognition to his contribution to promote the cause of green infrastructure not only in DMRC but also in various Indian Metros, under operation.
The title was bestowed on Dr. Kumar yesterday during the Green Building Congress. As DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kumar has actively supported the green building movement in India. Earlier there was no Green Building rating system exclusively for Metro systems. Recognizing this gap, in 2014, DMRC and IGBC collaborated to create the World’s First Green Certification norm specifically for Mass Rapid Transit Systems (MRTS). Not only DMRC, but other Metros within India (like Kochi, Noida etc.) have also adopted this MRTS Green Rating.
