NEW DELHI. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) East Vinod Nagar Metro Station on the Pink Line has been conferred the *Best Performing Unit Award in the Metro Stations sector* under the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025. The award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Vigyan Bhawan on National Energy Conservation Day, and was received by Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, selected the station after a rigorous evaluation of entries from metro rail systems across the country.
The recognition was earned due to the station’s consistent reduction in electrical energy consumption and Energy Performance Index (EPI) over the past three financial years, achieved through regular energy monitoring and targeted conservation measures. Key initiatives include retrofitting conventional tube lights with energy-efficient LED fixtures and the installation of a 150 kWp rooftop solar plant, which meets nearly 49 per cent of the station’s total energy requirement. Additionally, the station holds a “Platinum” rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), underscoring DMRC’s continued commitment to energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable urban mobility.
