Director In-Charge exhorts Rourkela Steel Plant collective to aim for continuous improvement to achieve sustainable growth

Mr. B. K. Tiwari, Director In-Charge, Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) with additional charge of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), chaired a high-level meeting with senior officers of RSP on 3rd January, 2025, at the Manthan Conference Hall. The meeting focused on reviewing key areas, including production performance, cost of production, raw material availability, mines operations, financials, and ongoing projects.

Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Alok Verma, ED In-Charge (Works), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Operations), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chwodhuri, ED (Projects), Dr. J K Acharya, CMO In-charge (M&HS), all the CGMs and HoDs of the plant attended the meeting.

“The way Rourkela Steel Plant has evolved in the last few years is praiseworthy. The work culture and the progressive mindset of its employees is exceptional.It is destiny that made me a member of the RSP family,” said Mr. Tiwari while expressing his happiness over getting the opportunity to lead the RSP team. Emphasizing safety as a fundamental value, Mr. Tiwari highlighted the importance of cultivating a safety-first mindset across all operations. He encouraged the collective to identify and implement incremental improvements in every department, emphasizing that these consistent small changes can lead to transformative results.

Presentations were made by Mrs. Sunita Singh, CGM (PPC) and Mr. Mall Srinivasu, CGM(RP&E) on performance of the Plant and the Mines.

During the interactions with the Executive Directors and other senior officers, he acknowledged RSP’s strategic decision to shut down one of its blast furnaces; and applauded the Plant’s ability to adapt to challenges.
