NEW DELHI. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has changed the rules for ticket refunds and cancellations. Passengers can now cancel or change their tickets within 48 hours of booking without extra charges, under certain conditions. However, this does not apply if the flight departs within seven days for domestic travel or 15 days for international travel.
If a passenger books directly on an airline’s website, name corrections within 24 hours will be free. For tickets booked through agents, airlines must ensure refunds within 14 working days. After 48 hours, normal cancellation or change fees will apply. Special rules also apply for medical emergencies.
