NEW DELHI. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recorded 235.8 crore passenger journeys in 2025, reaffirming the Delhi Metro as the lifeline of the Delhi NCR region. The achievement comes as the metro network continues to expand with new sections on the Pink Line and Magenta Line, improving connectivity across the National Capital Region. With its extensive network and reliable services, Delhi Metro remains the backbone of India’s urban mass transit system.

India now operates the third-largest metro rail network in the world, with over 1,143 kilometres of operational lines across 26 cities. The Delhi-NCR region alone accounts for around 416 kilometres of metro network with 303 stations, including the Noida–Greater Noida Metro and Rapid Metro Gurugram, connecting major cities such as Noida, Greater Noida and Gurugram with Delhi. The metro system currently operates 343 trains with 2,368 coaches, running about 4,508 trips daily and maintaining a punctuality rate of nearly 99.9%.

Delhi Metro has also seen strong growth in ridership after the COVID-19 pandemic, with average daily ridership reaching 64.6 lakh passengers in 2025. The network achieved its highest-ever daily ridership of 81.87 lakh passengers on August 8, 2025. With Phase-IV expansion underway and additional trains being procured, the metro system is set to further strengthen urban mobility in the capital region.
