A colourful cultural programme and an award ceremony marked the Children’s Day by celebrations by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant organised at Civic Centre on 14th November. Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge (DIC) RSP was the Chief Guest. Present on the occasion were Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) with additional charge of ED (Projects), Mr. Alok Verma, ED (Mines) with additional charge of ED (Works), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge (TA&CSR), Mr. Anil Kumar, CGM In-Charge (MM), Dr. Jayant Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS), Ms. Sushreeta Das, Principal (IEMS-20) and Dr. S Tripathy, Principal (IVM). The function was attended by other teachers, guardians of awardees of the school.
Speaking on this occasion, the Director In-Charge exhorted the children to embrace every moment, every challenge, and every joy. “Let your spirit soar, your dreams take flight, and your heart remain young. Cherish these days, for they will shape the person you become,” Calling upon the children to take advantage of the rapidly evolving world of technology he said, “Today, the universe has transformed into a vast canvas of opportunities, and the future is full of exciting possibilities. You can dream of becoming anything you want.”
The programme commenced with lighting of ceremonial lamp and paying floral tribute at the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India whose birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day.
The DIC presented Steel City Best Orator Award to 45 students belonging to different schools of Rourkela.
Ms. Supriya Barua, of Ispat English Medium School, Sec-20 welcomed the gathering while Ms. Seema Mohanta, of Ispat Vidya Mandir, Sec-19, proposed a formal vote of thanks. Miss Subhasmita Sahoo, of Ispat Vidya Mandir, Sec-19 cordinated the function. Program was concluded with a colourful cultural program comprising song and dance programmes by children as well as teachers.
Earlier in the morning a fruit distribution programme was organised at the Paediatric ward of `Ispat General Hospital. Dr. Jayant Acharya, CMO In-charge (M&HS) was the Chief Guest of the function and handed over the prizes to the winners of drawing competition held in the ward to mark Children’s Day. Around 35 children took part in the competition. Present on the occasion were Dr. P K Mohapatra, CMO (M&HS), Dr. R R Mohanty, CMO (M&HS). The dignitaries distributed, gifts, fruits and sweets to the children of the ward. The function coordinated by Dr. Maya Bose, Chief Consultant (M&HS) was attended by HODs of different units, DNB residents, nurses and Staff of IGH.
