The Computer and Information Technology Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has made several strides in the last fiscal helping the Plant in its digital transformative endeavours.
One of the significant achievements has been the integration of Odisha Group of Mines (OGM) with the SAP system of RSP. The introduction of SAP MM, SAP FICO, SAP SD, and SAP PP modules in Bolani, Barsuan, and Taldihi mines have improved operational efficiency and taken data management to newer heights.
Another pivotal development in this period has been the implementation of QR Code Label Printing for HR coils in HSM2. Adhering to the guidelines set forth by the National Institute of Design (NID), Government of India (GOI), this initiative has ensured traceability and quality control in manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the seamless integration with the Quality Council of India (QCI) portal enhances accessibility and data synchronization.
The implementation of an E-office System in RSP has been a major paradigm shift in administrative practices reducing paperwork considerably and fostering a culture of digital collaboration and efficiency.
Addition of user friendly “Town Complaint Management System” mobile app in Karmimitra, coupled with a website in the Employee Zone, has revolutionized grievance redressal mechanisms in the organisation.
The launch of an online system for application, selection and finalization of vocational training aspirants is yet another step towards digitalisation involving different set of stakeholders. This has made the process convenient and transparent.
These transformative initiatives of C&IT have helped the plant to move ahead in the rewarding journey of digital transformation.
