NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Coal, under the leadership of Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, is set to launch Coal Neer, a major welfare and community outreach project providing safe 20-litre jars of purified drinking water for just 5 rupees. Initially implemented by Coal India Limited subsidiaries including BCCL, CCL, SECL, and MCL, the initiative leverages existing township infrastructure to establish robust water purification facilities. BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal highlighted that the heavily subsidized program is designed to secure the health of mining communities, lessen dependence on private vendors, and ensure clean water never becomes a financial burden.
