Shri R.K. Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC has been conferred with the prestigious ‘CBIP Individual Award for Outstanding Contribution for Development of Water Resources Power, and Renewable Energy Sector’. Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, President, CBIP (Central Board of Irrigation & Power) and Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority presented the award to Shri Chaudhary during CBIP Day celebrations and Awards presentation ceremony at New Delhi on 21st March 2025. Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects & Technical), NHPC, Shri Suprakash Adhikari, ED (O&M), NHPC and other senior NHPC officers were also present on the occasion.
Shri Chaudhary possesses over 36 years of rich and vast experience in all aspects of development of a hydro-project from concept to commissioning and has made notable contribution in development of hydropower in India and Bhutan. Shri Chaudhary has especially contributed to the Kalpong Hydroelectric Project, which was commissioned 16 months ahead of schedule in the remote Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He also played a key role in the commissioning of the Teesta-V (510 MW) and Mangdechhu (720 MW) Hydroelectric Projects and was instrumental in repairing the Head Race Tunnel of the 1020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan as an expert member.
