The Civil Engineering (Services) [CE(S)] department at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), has played a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency and workplace environment across major units of the plant during the financial year 2024–25.
In line with its commitment to continuous improvement and infrastructure excellence, CE(S) Deptt successfully undertook a series of renovation, upgrading, and beautification projects aimed at supporting productivity and creating a more conducive work atmosphere for plant personnel.
The Deptt executed extensive renovations across several key administrative and operational buildings, including Centralized Personnel-TMM Office Building, Different blocks of Administration Building, Marketing Deptt, Blast Furnace Administration Building, Water Management Deptt , MER Building of SMS-II, Reception Building, Modernisation Store etc.
One of the major initiatives of the unit was the development of ‘Vridhhim’, a new garden space transformed from a former waste dump site in front of the ED (Works) Building. This project not only added aesthetic value to the premises but also demonstrated the department’s dedication to environmental sustainability and green initiatives.
Further critical infrastructure works were carried out included repairing and strengthening of vital operational structures such as the Ammonium Sulphate Building at CCD, Flash Mixer Column in BF#5, Modernisation Store, and MD Track at Tippler-1.
These initiatives by CE(S) highlight its steadfast commitment to supporting the production units and strategic operations of RSP, significantly contributing to the plant’s overall productivity, safety, and employee well-being.
