Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu takes stock of Delhi Airport runway upgrade

Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Ram Mohan Naidu, chaired a crucial stakeholder meeting today at Delhi Airport to discuss operational challenges stemming from the ongoing upgrades to runway 10/28 and the impact of unexpected westerly wind patterns. The meeting convened key stakeholders from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, including Secretary Shri Vumlunmang Vualnam, Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Shri Vipin Kumar, and DGCA Director General Shri Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, along with representatives from Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), various airlines, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). During the discussions, the Minister underscored the need for collaborative efforts to ensure minimal disruption to passengers and overall airline operations.

Shri Ram Mohan Naidu highlighted the priority of maintaining smooth operations at Delhi Airport, directing all stakeholders to engage in thorough planning that accounts for both the runway upgrade and potential weather-related disruptions. He emphasized the importance of timely, preemptive actions based on weather forecasts to maximize resource utilization. Additionally, he called for improved coordination among stakeholders to ensure workforce readiness in anticipation of unforeseen challenges, reinforcing that operational efficiency is vital during this critical period when one of the four runways is being upgraded.

Further demonstrating the Ministry’s commitment to aviation safety and excellence, Shri Ram Mohan Naidu undertook a comprehensive visit to Air India’s corporate and training infrastructure in Gurugram. His visit began with a walkthrough of the Air India Experience Centre, which showcases the airline’s 92-year legacy and its Vihaan.AI transformation journey. Through this engagement, the Minister expressed confidence in the collective capabilities of the sector and emphasized the importance of transparent communication with passengers to minimize inconvenience during these critical developments, ensuring that India’s aviation sector serves as a benchmark for excellence.
