Singh highlighted the challenge of balancing system viability with affordable tariffs, crucial for investment and public interest.
Union Power Minister R. K. Singh addressed CERC, highlighting the evolving challenges in the power sector and the crucial role of its personnel. Emphasizing the need for neutrality, he expressed confidence in CERC’s ability to navigate complexities. Singh suggested potential expansion with more experts in the future. Chairperson Shri Jishnu Barua, in his welcome address, mentioned the successful public hearing on Draft Tariff Regulations 2024 and ongoing work on regulations for Renewable Energy Resources. Acknowledging government approval for new office space, he thanked the Minister, highlighting the spacious 54,500 sq. ft premises. Barua assured commitment to robust tariff regulations promoting citizen welfare and sector investment.
The event was attended by Members of the CERC; Secretary, CERC, Shri H. S. Pruthi; officers and staff of CERC and the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; and CMDs of major PSUs in the power sector.
