Call for SIT Investigation: Society Against Gambling Trust Urges Appointment of Retired Judge for Mahadev Betting App Case

New Delhi: In connection with the arrests of Mahadev Betting App alleged promoters Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the Society Against Gambling Trust (SAG) held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, asking for the constitution of a special investigation team (SIT) under the stewardship of a retired high court judge.

In its memorandum submitted to the Union Home Ministry, SAG emphasized that a large number of economically disadvantaged individuals were misled in the Mahadev Betting App scam. This issue gained attention when Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed it during his election campaigns in Chhattisgarh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the issue, stating the significant corruption associated with the Mahadev Betting App scam. The Enforcement Directorate conducted multiple raids in connection with the case, seizing a substantial amount of money.

As the investigation proceeds, both the ED and CBI have filed cases in several states. Central agencies and law enforcement entities across all states encountered obstacles in collaboration, as well as issues related to evidence. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, it is imperative to establish an SIT led by a retired high court judge to ensure a proper investigation without any intervention and pressure.

Chairperson Neha Verma of SAG stated, “As per media reports, the promoters of the Mahadev Betting App were allegedly associated with the terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. It is claimed that both Saurabh Chandrakar and his Man Friday Ravi Uppal misused funds collected by deceiving individuals in India to support a terror group. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, we urge a thorough investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).”
