AI@Work training programme at SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant

A training programme on ‘AI@Work: SMART SAIL with Smart Skills for the Modern Workplace’ was organized at L&D Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) from 29th to 30th  December,2025. Mr. P K Sahoo. CGM (HR-L&D) presided over the inaugural session. Mr. H Pati, GM (HR-L&D) was also present on the occasion. In all 25 executives from different departments of the plant attended the programme. Mr. K K Sengupta, CGM (I&A) and Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (HR-L&D) presided over the concluding session of the workshop and interacted with the participants.

The objective of the program was to enable executives to effectively leverage Artificial Intelligence tools for enhancing workplace productivity and efficiency. It aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge to identify opportunities in day-to-day tasks where AI can improve efficiency, communication and decision-making. Executives handling data, MIS, presentations and reports participated in the programme. Key aspects covered in different sessions included prompt engineering and hands-on exposure to AI tools for daily productivity. The sessions emphasized practical application through real workplace scenarios, enabling participants to build their own personal AI toolkits.

The programme was conducted by Mr. Chandra Nath Kumar, Senior Manager (HR-L&D), Academics, MTI, who also served as the faculty and facilitator. The interactive sessions and hands-on exercises were well received by the participants, contributing to enhanced awareness and confidence in using AI tools at the workplace.
