India Approves Extended Power Exports to Nepal

India approves extended power exports to Nepal

NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Power has approved electricity exports to Nepal for up to 18 hours a day from September 13 to December 31, 2026, to help meet additional power requirements following extensive flood damage to the country’s hydropower infrastructure. Under the approval, India will supply up to 600 MW through the Muzaffarpur–Dhalkebar 400 kV double-circuit transmission line and up to 54 MW through the Tanakpur–Mahendranagar 132 kV single-circuit line. The quantum of electricity to be exported from January 2027 will be reviewed in December 2026, the Ministry said. AIR
