BONGAIGAON NTPC Bongaigaon observed World No Tobacco Day with a series of comprehensive awareness and outreach initiatives designed to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle across its entire workforce. The observance commenced with a Tobacco-Free Pledge Ceremony and a Signature Campaign at the Administrative Building, led by Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project. This momentum was carried forward to the Plant Service Building, where Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), administered the pledge and spearheaded another signature campaign alongside various employees and Heads of Departments. A similar pledge-taking and signature campaign was also organized at U.N. Brahma Hospital under the leadership of Dr. Deepayan Paul, CMO and ENT Specialist, emphasizing the vital importance of adopting healthier lifestyle habits.

Medical experts actively sensitized participants throughout the day on the severe health risks of nicotine addiction and practical cessation measures. Dr. Deepayan Paul conducted an interactive educational session for more than 70 contract workers, addressing their specific health concerns and encouraging them to quit tobacco use. Additionally, Dr. Rakesh Anand, Physician, led a dedicated awareness programme for over 50 deployed CISF personnel, highlighting the adverse impacts of consumption and the critical role of early intervention. Through these collaborative efforts involving its top management, medical staff, and security personnel, NTPC Bongaigaon successfully reaffirmed its commitment to preventive healthcare and a tobacco-free future.
