New Delhi, 5th April 2026: The nights in Delhi are poised to be brighter and more efficient as Esmart Lighting Solutions, with support of MCD, reveals its plans to replace more than 4 lacs smart streetlights in the Central, South, Najafgarh, and West Zone of South Delhi Municipal Corporation in the forthcoming months.
The project aims to upgrade the city’s lighting system by implementing energy-efficient lights that enhance visibility while minimising energy use.
All these energy-efficient lights will be linked to a centralised monitoring system, enabling officials to monitor performance, identify faults promptly, and perform maintenance more efficiently. This interconnected network will offer insights into energy consumption and system effectiveness, assisting city officials in managing urban infrastructure more efficiently.
In addition to technology, the project seeks to enhance the everyday urban experience. Well-lit streets greatly improve safety, encourage night-time economic activities, and boost accessibility in areas after dark.
As the rollout progresses in Central, South, Najafgarh, and West Zone of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, locals and travellers can look forward to better, more reliable street illumination and a superior lighting system.
Saurabh Aggarwal, Business Head of Esmart Energy Solutions, said, “We take great pride in serving the people of Delhi through this significant collaboration with the MCD. What makes this transformation interesting is that it will happen gradually. There will be no single moment when the city suddenly looks different. Instead, over the coming months, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, the lighting network will quietly evolve. Most people may not think about the technology above them as they walk down the street or drive home at night. But they will notice the feeling. The streets will seem a little brighter.”
Through this rollout, E Smart Lighting Solutions seeks to assist Delhi in moving towards more intelligent and energy-efficient urban infrastructure. Across the world, cities are rethinking how infrastructure works. Roads, utilities, and public systems are slowly becoming more connected and intelligent. Lighting often becomes the starting point for this transformation because it sits at the heart of the urban landscape. Once streetlights become connected, they can eventually support a range of future technologies — from environmental sensors to improved traffic management.
In recent months, under the direction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Esmart lighting solutions carried out the repair service and maintenance initiative across various zones of South Delhi aimed at improving network reliability, minimising downtime, and providing faster responses to local issues, contributing to safer and better-lit neighbourhood streets. By installing over 4 lacs smart lights across Central, South, Najafgarh, and West Zone of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, E Smart Lighting Solutions, with strong support of MCD, is helping lay the groundwork for a more responsive urban environment.
