NMDC Celebrates 100% Placement for Bastar Youth, Advancing Skill Development and Nation Building

NMDC Bastar youth 100% placement skill development

HYDERABAD. NMDC Limited marked a significant milestone in its commitment to skill development and inclusive growth by successfully placing all 80 youth from the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, who completed job-oriented training under the NMDC-CIPET Skill Development initiative. The first batch, drawn from various districts including Dantewada, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, was felicitated in a ceremony attended by senior NMDC leadership, including Chairman & Managing Director Shri Amitava Mukherjee, along with representatives from CIPET. These young individuals, many from modest backgrounds, expressed how the training not only provided employment opportunities but also instilled confidence and a sense of belonging in the country’s growth story, empowering them to pursue sustainable livelihoods and better futures.

The programme, implemented as part of NMDC’s CSR efforts, aims to transform the lives of unemployed and tribal youth by equipping them with industry-relevant skills in fields such as plastics technology, through comprehensive training at no cost. The initiative emphasizes inclusivity by setting a minimum qualification of Class 8, ensuring that dropouts and youth from economically weaker sections are not excluded from the skilling ecosystem. The success of this first batch underscores the effectiveness of the initiative, which is designed to create a skilled local workforce capable of contributing to the region’s development and NMDC’s broader vision of building an Atmanirbhar Bastar and a Viksit Bharat.

During the event, senior leaders highlighted the transformative impact of such skilling programmes. Shri Mukherjee emphasized that witnessing the youth from Bastar entering formal employment reaffirmed the importance of opportunity in shaping lives and strengthening the nation’s growth. Leaders like Shri Vinay Kumar and Shri Joydeep Dasgupta also spoke about NMDC’s integral role in Chhattisgarh’s development journey and encouraged students to pursue continuous learning and entrepreneurship. The programme, funded entirely by NMDC and in partnership with CIPET, aims to train 500 youth from Dantewada and Bastar districts, fostering employability and local industry growth, and exemplifying the company’s commitment to sustainable development and nation building.
