NEW DELHI. During the stakeholder consultation on the CSR Framework for Indian coal companies, Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, reiterated the Ministry’s firm commitment to community welfare, inclusive growth, and sustainable development. She highlighted the need for a collaborative and holistic approach to CSR, bringing together public sector undertakings, private companies, and credible organizations to create tangible and lasting transformation in coal-bearing regions. Ms. Brar emphasized close coordination among all stakeholders to promote community care through collective action, while advocating for the development of a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) and a share d repository to enhance transparency and efficiency in CSR implementation.
Underscoring the importance of accountability and measurable impact, Ms. Brar called for robust monitoring, periodic evaluations, and the involvement of credible third-party agencies. She urged stakeholders to align around a unified vision guided by a clear output–outcome framework and methodical project selection. Encouraging a spirit of collaboration, she concluded with a call to action — “Let’s think together, let’s work together” — stressing that well-planned CSR initiatives should empower communities, strengthen livelihoods, and harmonize industrial progress with social well-being and environmental stewardship.
