NMDC Launches Skill Development Initiative for 500 Tribal Youth in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, In a significant step towards empowering tribal youth through skill development, NMDC, India’s leading iron ore producer, has launched a comprehensive training initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The initiative will benefit 500 tribal youth from the Bastar and Dantewada districts of Chhattisgarh, offering them technical education and employment opportunities in the plastics and polymer sectors.

In collaboration with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Hyderabad, NMDC will fully sponsor training courses that include tuition, lodging, and associated costs. The programme aims to build a skilled workforce by offering industry-aligned courses in plastics processing, mould technology, and polymer testing.

Admissions are open from July 20 to July 30, 2025, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Courses offered include:

  • Machine Operator (NSQF Level IV) – A 6-month certification course for candidates with minimum 8th grade education (400 seats).
  • Diploma in Plastics Technology & Plastics Mould Technology – 3-year diploma courses for 10th pass students (80 seats).
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Plastics Processing & Testing – 2-year course for science graduates (20 seats).

With 70% placement assurance through CIPET’s national industry network, graduates can expect starting salaries of ₹15,000–₹25,000 per month plus perks.

This initiative reflects NMDC’s commitment to inclusive growth, focusing on education, employability, and economic upliftment of underserved communities in tribal regions.
