Seminar on Electrical Safety organized at SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant

With a focus on fostering a strong safety culture and enhancing awareness on electrical safety, a seminar on “Electrical Safety” was conducted by the Safety Engineering Department on 18th July, 2025 at the Learning & Development Centre of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works) graced the opening session of the seminar as Chief Guest and inaugurated the seminar. Mr. R K Muduli, CGM (Electrical & I&A) was also present on the dais. Many CGMs, HoDs, and senior officers of Safety and Electrical department were present on the occasion. The seminar was attended by more than 100 employees and executives of various departments looking after Electrical domain.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Palai highlighted the significance of electrical safety in industrial operations and urged all employees to adopt a proactive and preventive approach toward safety practices. Earlier, Mr. Muduli gave the welcome address while Mr. Abakasa Behera, GM (Safety) proposed a formal vote of thanks of the inaugural session.

Later in the day, various technical sessions were held. Mr. R. K. Muduli, took the first session and set the tone by highlighting key electrical safety issues at RSP. This was followed by an in-depth presentation on electrical safety practices and insights by Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty, DGM (E), HSM-II. The session concluded with a critical discussion on learning from past electrical accidents in SAIL & RSO, presented by Mr. Abakasa Behera.

The inaugural session and the technical sessions were coordinated by Ms. Prangya Nath, Assistant Manager (Safety) under the guidance of Mr. B K Padhy, AGM (Safety).

The seminar proved to be an enriching knowledge-sharing platform, reinforcing the importance of safety measures in electrical systems and reiterating RSP’s commitment to a safe and secure workplace.
