SINDRI ( Jharkhand ): In a remarkable step toward sustainable urban development, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) and the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation have signed a MoU to install energy-efficient LED and high mast lighting across a 30-kilometre stretch of Sindri. The project, launched under HURL’s Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) initiative, comes with an estimated investment of ₹10.29 crore and aims to enhance public safety, energy conservation, and infrastructure in the industrial township.
The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the presence of HURL’s Managing Director, Vice President–HR, and Business Unit Head (Sindri). This strategic lighting upgrade is expected to significantly reduce electricity consumption while improving nighttime visibility and civic amenities for thousands of local residents.
The day’s significance extended beyond urban infrastructure, as HURL also organized a Van Mahotsav (Tree Plantation Drive), reinforcing its dedication to environmental stewardship. Employees actively participated in planting saplings within and around the plant premises, symbolizing growth, renewal, and ecological balance. As part of employee engagement and morale-boosting efforts, custom T-shirts were distributed during the event, followed by a guided plant visit to deepen employee pride and connection with HURL’s operations.
