The 38th Annual Summer Coaching Camp organised by the Sports Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has generated an enthusiastic response from the children of the steel city as well as nearby places. The camp is being held at the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium, Ispat Stadium, Ispat Basketball complex, Ispat Indoor Stadium and the Chess Hall of Ispat Stadium.
The chess segment of the camp is witnessing a large number of participation from budding talents of the city. More than 65 children have enrolled for the camp this year. Along with basic chess training, participants are being imparted knowledge of chess openings, the middle game, end game strategies, combinations, and tournament formats. The camp provides young chess enthusiasts with intensive training and exposure to various aspects of the game. A team of expert coach of RSP are guiding the youngsters to learn the nuances of the game.
It is noteworthy that the Summer Coaching Camp features 14 sports disciplines, including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting & Powerlifting and Yoga. Expert coaches are providing comprehensive training in each field. The camp will conclude on May 27th.
