Contractual Employees of FM(M) Department Awarded in a Special Award Ceremony

An Award Ceremony was organized by the FM(M) Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to recognize and felicitate the remarkable efforts of contractual employees who ensured uninterrupted operations at the Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) during the two-day strike called by M/s FSNL employees on 28th and 29th September 2024. Mr. Alok Verma, ED (Mines) with additional charge of ED (Works) handed over the gifts to ten contractual employees on 22nd October, 2024. Present on the occasion were Mr. R N Rajendran, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. MNVS Prabhakar, CGM In-Charge (Services) Mr. T P Sivasankar, CGM (SMS-II), Dr. J K Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS), Mr. Sumeet Kumar, CGM (BF), Mr. Sanjay Kr. Mehrotra, GM I/c (HR), Mr. Abakash Mallick, GM In-Charge, (FM(M) & Transport), Mr. Chintamani Mohapatra, GM I/c (MRD), Mr. S. S. Paul, GM FM(M) and many other senior officers of the plant.

During the strike, key operations, such as the removal of tundish and clearing of the slag dump pit and yard, came to a standstill. The FM(M) Department, tasked with handling this critical situation for the first time, swiftly mobilized essential earth-moving equipment, including chain excavators, dumpers, and payloaders, to the SMS-II site. Working round the clock, the contractual operators ensured the continuous removal of tundish, clearing of slag pits, and proper disposal of slag, thus enabling the smooth functioning of SMS-II and uninterrupted production.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Abakash Mallick, who had played a pivotal role in managing the successful execution of the operation during the strike.
