New Delhi: Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump, United States designated Syed Salahuddin, chief of Kashmiri militant group Hizbul Mujahideen, a global terrorist. Salahuddin now joins Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Mohammed Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim in the list of global terrorists.
MEA Spokesperson, Gopal Bagalay welcomed the move and said that both secretaries reiterated Trump administration’s “strong desire to consolidate the gains made in the multidimensional ties’’. He further added that this vindicated India’s long-standing position on Pakistan-based cross-border terrorism.
The militant leader had vowed to block any peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, the statement said.
