REC has organised a Workshop on Cyber Security for Distribution Utilities in Power Sector at REC’s Corporate Office, Gurugram . During the workshop speakers gave the participants a thorough learning on all cyber security-related aspects.The workshop will help strengthen the power sector in mitigating the risks of cyber crimes.
The opening session was graced by Sh. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD, REC Ltd., Sh. M. A. K. P. Singh, Member (Hydro), CEA & CISO (MoP), Sh. B. A. Sawale, DG, CPRI, and Sh. Atul Bali, Director, NPMU & EGSM were also present at the event.
In his special address during this session, Sh. Dewangan spoke on the different layers of cyber security and laid stress on the crucial role of the human layer as a security asset in preventing cyber threats.
During a national conference on Climate change & the Himalayas organised by the Global Counter Terrorism Council, Sh. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD, REC Ltd. participated in a panel discussion focused on developmental challenges related to water infrastructure, power infrastructure, & sustainable agriculture for local prosperity.
Speaking on the aspect of hydropower projects and sustainability, Sh. Dewangan stressed the need to maximise project benefits while mitigating any negative impacts. He also added that ‘the process for development of hydropower in the Indian context is well balanced and towards development of sustainable hydropower’.
